Hi Again!
I found out some new information from one of my sisters (Sheryl) this morning!!
This was my Dad at about age 15 (maybe 16) ... sitting inside of his Dad's Model T. Initially I thought he was older... but he sure does look young here!! Apparently, he had always wanted to be a sailor and join the Navy! Isn't he just adorable with this sailor hat on! My Dad served in the Navy, during the Korean War on the USS Melvin 680 DD... We were all so very proud of this amazingly handsome and awesome man! The actual photo is a black and white picture, scanned and printed on NORMAL setting from my ink jet printer on white Copic cardstock. I colored him with my copics and cried the whole time! My sister, JOANNE is an amazing replica of our Dad. I knew when I was at Kohl's Department Store that this frame was made for this picture... but it needed some color!! I miss my Dad! I thought he was invincible!
He was and is and always will be .. MY HERO!!
PS... Last night was the first night my Mom stayed by herself in her new house.. alone. Please keep the prayers coming for her. We have all been surviving on your prayers and well wishes!!
Thank you so much!!
With much Love,
Sometimes I just can't find the right words...... I will be praying as always for your mamma. Kathy, this is beautiful!!! I love what you did!!! I love the idea and will try it!!!
ReplyDeleteKathy...I've got to say, I don't even know you {besides that you're the Peachy Keen lady} and my heart aches for you! ReplyDeleteKathy...my heart goes out to you. I lost my dad over 3 years ago and I know how it feels to miss your dad. I love how you colored his photo and it looks so fabulous in that frame! The first year is the hardest...every holiday and special day is difficult but know that it will get better. Your life is forever changed by his passing but in time, it gets easier. My mom still has her sad days...dad was her life after us kids left home but she is doing better too. Prayers to you and for your mom!

Awwwww! You know you, your mom, and your entire family remain in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray for your broken hearts to be healed from the hurt of your loss. Your dad was such a handsome young man, and his service to our country, his faith, and his living as an example of kindness, and love is an everlasting blessing to so many. Hold tight to the love of your family, and know that your dad is looking down on you all with love and filled with pride. He left a legacy of heros to continue to bless this world. ReplyDeleteyour dad is soo handsome, you did a fantastic job on coloring him. Sorry to hear about your dad.
This man was SPECIAL!!! This man IS special. He gave love in abundance, he received it back 10 fold. I was unlucky enough never to have met him, but through you and Angelica, I know I would have been charmed immediately. You have, yet again, done him proud and have ensured in another beautiful way, that his memory stays bright.
ReplyDeleteLots of love and hugs my friend. xxx
What a special picture. Kathy, I want you to know that I know exactly how you feel. I lost my dad two and a half years ago and although it doesn't hurt as bad, it still catches you by surprise when you least expect it. You and your family are in my prayers, that's how we get through it. That and knowing that we'll see our dads again one day. Take care, Laurie
